Last week I wrote up a rant, at the request of some friends. I wrote about the demise of common courtesy and rise of self-centered attitudes. I think the universe, or that Karma person, is wagging it’s finger at me.
Today on my walk around the lake my friend and I saw the normal things. Cormorants. Geese. A troll den. And then… we saw a woman talking to a man in a tree. That’s not that odd in these parts, but something inside me said: wait, something’s going on here.
It turns out the man in the tree was helping the woman get her dog out of the tree. Yup, you read that correctly. Not cat. Dog. Her 4-lb Yorkie ran up the tree and got stuck. And a friendly passer-by stopped to help her out. He tied up is own dog then climbed the tree and coaxed her dog toward him. Several other passers-by stopped to cheer him on. He smiled shyly, claiming it was “nothing”. So kind, so humble. All hope is not lost.
